With the active actions taken by the Bulgarian Farmers Association / BAF / today was held, organized by the Economic and Social Council on a proposal from the Council of the Bulgarian Agrarian organizations / SBAO / conference with international participation on the topic:”The Package to  the Climate Changes and the  answer of the agriculture”.

 At the conference representatives of civil society and professional organizations from the agricultural sector in Bulgaria and the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee / EESC/, discussed some challenges facing farmers, dictated by the package of measures on climate and energy approved by the European Parliament in the month of December 2008. The focus of the discussion was placed on stimulating the production of domestic renewable energy resources in the agricultural sector, respectively, on the adaptation of agriculture to climate change and creating opportunities for its sustainable development. Extremely valuable for the Bulgarian participants in this problem was the experience of Sweden, shared by Mr. Ernst Enmark, Denmark / Neyf Nielsen / Germany / Adalbert Kinle. A Representative of the MZH made detailed and very useful analysis of the possibilities for development of energy crops within the Program for Rural Development. No less interest was material to introduce participants with the EU strategy for biofuels, the proposal to establish a Global Fund for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and The Biomass and also the Action Plan on the background of the increasing dependence of Europe from fossil fuels.
Unless the chairman Dr. St.. STEFANOV from BAF in the conference was attended by more member of the Board and Manager of the branch „Leaseholder farms and agro-firms” Mr. Bojidar Mitov, the National Coordinator in European and international activity Lyubomir Koralov and consultants Ms. Alma David / information services/ and Mr. Vihar Georgiev  /energy policy and euroregulations.
